This year, for student/faculty safety, all of our Summer at Springs courses will be conducted online via Zoom. Guided by our talented Indian Springs faculty, courses will consist of a combination of synchronous and asynchronous work, and many will be aimed at readiness for the 2020–21 school year.
Are you at home with your instrument? Are you singing around the house? Are you bored? Are you laying on the couch looking at the ceiling pondering the questions of life? The answer is simple. Plug in and rock out.
This is Contemporary Music Ensemble, but from a distance. The goal will be to learn a song or two and make a recording that will be mixed, mastered, and cut to vinyl, while never seeing each other in person. We will be learning our parts individually or in groups via Zoom meetings and will be utilizing some new tools for learning our parts, such as midi files and isolated guide tracks. We will use a very simple method to record our parts, requiring no previous recording experience. For the most part, all you will need is access to two devices (two phones, a tablet and a laptop, a phone, and a laptop, etc), and your instrument (or voice). If anything else is needed, it will be provided.
So, who wants to make a record?
