For Rising 10th-12th Graders

This course will focus on equipping students with the skills to be safe, defensive drivers. Classroom work will include an in-depth discussion on the effects of alcohol and drugs on drivers, as well as the dangers of distracted drivers. Students will participate in simulated driving situations and actual behind-the-wheel practice and may choose to take the Alabama Driver’s test. The class also includes a mini-course on boating safety, and students will have an opportunity to take the Alabama Boating Basics test to qualify to receive a valid Alabama Boater’s endorsement.

Choose from one of five classroom sessions offered during Summer@Springs 2023. Behind-the-wheel instruction will be scheduled throughout June and July based on calendar availability. Due to high demand and limited availability, once you choose your session date, we cannot switch dates. Students must attend one of the classroom sessions and complete all coursework. This is a pass/fail class. This class is non-refundable.

Please note: Student participants need to have a valid Alabama Driver’s Permit in order to enroll in this course.
