  • Must be 15 and hold a current, valid Alabama Learner's Permit.
  • Complete a six-hour driving log prior to the start of your summer session or the month you are enrolled in during our fall or spring semester sessions.

This course will focus on equipping students with the skills to be safe, defensive drivers. Students who complete the course will also receive a Course Completion Certificate that most insurance companies accept to offer a discounted rate.

Online classroom work will include in-depth information on the effects of alcohol and drugs on drivers, as well as the dangers of distracted driving. Students will have an opportunity to take the Alabama Boating Basics test to qualify to receive a valid Alabama Boater’s endorsement. All coursework is done online, and the driving instructor will email you directions for coursework as well as a calendar to sign up for in-person driving times.

PLEASE NOTE: Student participants MUST have a valid Alabama Driver’s Permit in order to enroll in this course. This class is not intended to be the first time a student gets behind the wheel. Students should practice their driving as soon as they receive their permit.
