For Rising 10th-12th Graders

This course will focus on equipping students with the skills to be safe, defensive drivers. In-course work will include in-depth discussion on the effects of alcohol and drugs on drivers, as well as the dangers of distracted drivers. Students will participate in simulated driving situations and actual behind-the-wheel practice and may choose to take the Alabama Driver’s test. The class also includes a mini-course on boating safety, and students will have an opportunity to take the Alabama Boating Basics test to qualify to receive a valid Alabama Boater’s endorsement.

Choose from four one-day sessions during Summer@Springs 2022. Behind-the-wheel instruction will be scheduled throughout June and July based on calendar availability. Students may attend a June class and drive in July and vice-versa. Due to high demand and limited availability, once you choose your in-person class date, we cannot switch dates. Students must attend the full-day class and complete all coursework. This is a pass/fail class. This class is non-refundable.

Please note: Student participants need to have a valid Alabama Driver’s Permit in order to enroll in this course.
